2. Key points at a glance

  • This website sets no cookies and uses no tracking or analytics services.
  • Fonts, scripts and images are loaded from our own server – no data is transmitted to Google or any other font/CDN provider.
  • The map (OpenStreetMap) is loaded only after you click.
  • The visitor counter works without storing your IP address.
  • Data from contact and enquiry forms is processed by email solely for the purpose of handling your enquiry.

3. Your rights (Art. 15–21 GDPR)

Access · Art. 15Information about the data stored about you
Rectification · Art. 16Correction of inaccurate data
Erasure · Art. 17Deletion of your data, unless a statutory retention obligation applies
Restriction · Art. 18Restriction of processing
Portability · Art. 20Provision of your data in a machine-readable format
Objection · Art. 21Objection to processing based on legitimate interests

To exercise your rights, an informal message to the controller named above is sufficient. We will respond without undue delay and at the latest within one month (Art. 12(3) GDPR). You may withdraw any consent you have given at any time with effect for the future (Art. 7(3) GDPR).

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR). The authority responsible for us is: Der Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania), Lennéstraße 1 (Schloss Schwerin), 19053 Schwerin.

4. Hosting and server log files

This website is hosted by a provider whose servers are located in the European Union; a data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR) is in place with this provider. When you access the pages, the server automatically processes information transmitted by your browser: IP address, date and time, page accessed, amount of data transferred, referrer URL, browser type and operating system. This data is used to deliver the website, to ensure security and to analyse errors, and is not combined with other data sources.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in secure and stable operation). Retention period: generally 7 days; security-relevant entries until the incident has been resolved.

5. Cookies and local storage

This website sets no cookies and uses no comparable technologies within the meaning of § 25 TDDDG. A consent banner is therefore not required.

6. Contact and enquiry forms

On several pages (Contact, Classic Car Hire, Camper Van Hire, Freiherren Suite, Support Us) you can send us enquiries via forms. We process the details you enter – usually your name, email address, telephone number if provided, subject, preferred dates and your message – together with the time of the enquiry and the page from which it was sent. The details are transmitted by email to our mailbox; you will receive an automatic acknowledgement of receipt at the address you provided. A field used to block automated spam submissions (honeypot) does not store any data. To protect against misuse, a truncated, encrypted checksum of your IP address is retained for a maximum of one hour.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR (initiation and performance of a contract, e.g. hire, booking, tour) and Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (your consent given in the form). Retention period: until your enquiry has been fully dealt with; if a contract is concluded, the retention periods under commercial and tax law apply (6 or 8 years respectively).

Our email mailbox is hosted by GMX (1&1 Mail & Media GmbH, Germany). If you email us directly, the above information applies accordingly.

7. Telephone and WhatsApp

If you contact us by telephone or WhatsApp via the buttons linked on the website, we process the data transmitted in the process in order to deal with your request (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR). For WhatsApp (WhatsApp Ireland Ltd.), the provider’s privacy notice also applies; data may be transferred to the USA in this context. If you do not wish this, please use email or telephone.

8. Visitor counter

In the footer we display the number of visits. For this purpose, when a page is accessed, a truncated checksum is generated from your IP address, your browser identifier and a random value that changes daily, so that each visitor is counted only once per day. The checksum does not allow your IP address to be inferred and is deleted after two days. Your IP address itself is not stored. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (audience measurement without personal reference).

9. Fonts, scripts and images

All fonts (Cormorant Garamond, Cinzel, Cinzel Decorative, EB Garamond – licensed under the SIL Open Font License), the 3D library three.js and all images are delivered from our own server. No connection is made to Google Fonts or to third-party content delivery networks.

10. Map (OpenStreetMap)

On the “Contact” and “Mirror Hall” pages you can display a directions map. The map is loaded only when you click “Load map”. A connection is then established to servers of the OpenStreetMap Foundation (St John's Innovation Centre, Cambridge, United Kingdom – adequacy decision of the European Commission) and your IP address is transmitted. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent by clicking). Further information: OSMF privacy policy.

11. Links to external services

This website contains links to Facebook, Instagram, PayPal, Google Maps and to partners and sources. When you click on them you leave our website; the privacy policy of the respective provider then applies. We do not integrate any social media plugins, pixels or embedded content from these services.

12. Historical images

We publish historical photographs and documents (19th and early 20th century) relating to Schloss Gültz and the von Maltzahn family which are in the public domain or come from our own archive. The persons depicted died decades ago; their depiction serves to document cultural heritage (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, § 23(1) KUG). We publish personal data of living persons only with their consent. Should you believe that any rights are being infringed, please write to us – we will look into every notice promptly.

13. Encryption

This website uses TLS encryption (recognisable by “https://” and the padlock symbol in the address bar). This means that data you send via forms cannot be read by third parties.

14. Changes

We will amend this policy if the website or the legal situation changes. The version published here at any given time applies.
