The Mirror Hall
Sky-blue stucco, gilded mirrors, the light of crystal chandeliers – and beneath them 156 square metres of historic parquet. This hall was built in 1872 for celebrating, and in a good 150 years it has never forgotten how. Anyone who steps in here for the first time understands why without another word.
The Mirror Hall in real photographs
A hall that breathes history
When Freiherr Helmuth von Maltzahn had his new manor house built in the style of a northern Italian villa between 1868 and 1872, he planned the Mirror Hall as the grand centrepiece of social life. The Schwerin building officer (Baurath) Georg Daniel created a banqueting hall of majestic proportions: 156 square metres, crowned by a 6.80-metre-high stucco ceiling in a characteristic sky blue which, together with the great mirrored walls, gave the hall its name.
Large gilded wall mirrors multiply the light of the crystal chandeliers and make the room shine with a warm, almost unearthly radiance. Between the mirrors, delicate stucco ornaments frame the tall windows that open onto the Lenné park – a composition of architecture and nature that has been preserved in its perfection to this day.

Architectural mastery
Sky-blue stucco
The original Gründerzeit stucco ceiling shines in that unique blue that makes the Mirror Hall so unmistakable. Floral ornaments and medallions adorn the 6.80 m high ceiling.
Gilded mirrors
Monumental wall mirrors in richly ornamented gold frames reflect the light and visually double the room.
Crystal chandeliers
Sparkling crystal chandeliers bathe the hall in warm, festive light. Their interplay with the mirrors creates a magical atmosphere.
Historic parquet floor
The restored oak parquet floor features artfully laid patterns in the historicist style – warm, elegant and ideal for dancing.
Park windows
Tall arched windows open up the view into the historic Lenné park. At summer events they connect inside and outside seamlessly.
Park terrace
The large terrace with a view across the park to the ponds – perfect for a champagne reception, a summer party or romantic outdoor ceremonies.
When the light falls on the mirrors …
There are moments when the Mirror Hall reveals all its magic. When the evening sun falls through the park windows and the gilded mirrors cast back a warm light. When the chandeliers are lit and thousands of crystals begin to sparkle. When the first bars of a waltz – or a tango – drift across the parquet and the mirrors double every dancing couple, until the hall is fuller than it could ever be.
This hall has witnessed more than 150 years of celebrations, music and history. It welcomed the nobility of the Gründerzeit and weathered the storms of the 20th century – and today it is waiting not for admirers, but for guests who will use it again: for dancing, for listening, for celebrating.
A hall built for dancing
Since 1872 this room has seen celebration, music and dancing. Whatever takes place here does not borrow its splendour from decoration – the hall itself is the setting.
Balls & tango evenings
A ballroom wants to dance. 156 square metres of historic oak parquet, 6.80 metres of air above the hairstyles and mirrors that double every turn – you don’t need to be able to dance to feel the rhythm here. Whether a summer ball with the park windows open, New Year’s Eve beneath the chandeliers or a milonga by candlelight: the hall has always been one waltz ahead of its time.
Dancing here since 1872Concerts & culture
The high stucco ceiling, the parquet floor and the large expanses of wall give the hall a sound of rare clarity – musicians enjoy listening to themselves here. Candlelit chamber concerts, song recitals, jazz and readings become an intimate experience for up to 150 guests: no orchestra pit, no distance, just the room and the music.
Concerts & cultureWeddings & ceremonies
The first dance on 150-year-old parquet, candlelight in the gilded mirrors, the champagne reception on the terrace overlooking the Lenné park – in the Mirror Hall a wedding needs no backdrop; it has a place.
